Key components of both will be explored with emphasis given to online outreach options of coaching. Guidelines for establishing mentoring and coaching connections will be outlined and discussed. Participants will learn more about iaedp’s Mentoring program through the Connection, Outreach, and Mentoring Committee (COMC) and have the opportunity to connect with colleagues during the presentation.
There is a shift in the field moving towards utilizing coaching consistently due to financial and insurance issues, availability of care, and need for expansive support. This discussion will explore innovative methods for those in recovery to receive more support in behavior change and practicing recovery tools. Attendees will get the opportunity to practice mentoring and coaching skills with colleagues experientially and build connections in the process.
Brooke C. E. Farrington, MSW, LCSW, CEDS-S is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Her practice, Farrington Specialty Counseling Inc. specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, compulsive exercise, and body image issues for males and females of all ages. Farrington Specialty Counseling offers outpatient, group, and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care. Prior to opening her practice, Brooke worked at a Residential/Inpatient facility where she directed the outpatient and intensive outpatient programs and led dance and movement groups in the residential program. She speaks frequently in Northeast Indiana as an eating disorder expert and has spoken on the national level. As well as being a therapist, Brooke also teaches multiple styles of dance. She is Chair of iaedp's Connection, Outreach, and Mentoring Committee and an iaedp Approved Supervisor. She was awarded iaedp’s Member of the Year in 2016.
Kristie Amadio is the founder and CEO of Recovered Living in Los Angeles, California. Kristie earned her Masters of Counseling at Monash University in Australia and specializes in experiential learning, having lived and worked at Outward Bound New Zealand. Recovered from her own 14-year history of an eating disorder, Kristie offers a unique perspective on the treatment of eating disorders internationally. She has spoken at treatment centers in both Australia and America and regularly facilitates groups as part of her work in New Zealand. An engaging individual, Kristie promises experiential learning at its best.
