Eating Disorder Providers are Suddenly the New Black in Health Care M&A: Why, and Why You Should Care

Abstract:

You got into the treatment of eating disorders to help people. It’s never been about the money. Rather it’s a calling. Is this you? If so, even the thought of mergers and acquisitions may make you a bit queasy. But if you think about it, after dedicating your professional life to helping hundreds, perhaps thousands of patients, in lieu of chasing a dollar, is it inappropriate to realize some sort of financial reward for your life’s work, if you are so fortunate?

Well, the need for, and access to, behavioral health services has converged with the world of finance, creating the opportunity for providers who never thought about making a buck, with the opportunity to do so. First, it was high-end drug and alcohol treatment providers. Next it was medication assisted treatment and autism spectrum services providers. And now it’s the eating orders treatment provider community that is garnering attention.

In this session, we will explore the behavioral health M&A market in general, and why the sector has grown into the fastest growing area in health care services M&A. We will discuss how the market is changing, and how eating disorder providers converge with these changes. More importantly, whether you are a potential buyer, seller, or undecided or curious insider, we will detail what this all means for buyers, sellers, supply and demand, valuation, and more. Finally, we will discuss the outlook for the segment, and how this may impact your near to mid-term strategic plans.
