While EMDR is most noted for its eye movements, there are several other significant aspects of the EMDR Approach that help clinicians, trained in EMDR or otherwise, develop an effective and efficient treatment of eating disorders and other addictive behaviors, (with and without the bilateral stimulation, i.e. Eye movements). Participants will learn, through lecture, videos and experiential opportunities, how to view their client’s issues through the lens of the Adaptive Information Processing Model (the corner stone of the EMDR Approach). Additionally, participants will be able to demonstrate how to activate the client’s mind, body and spirit as a means of assist reprocessing past experiences, handle present stressors and problem solve future anticipates situations where the urge to ‘use’ may arise.
